With your support, you are enabling the next step for the Wild Textiles; that involves
buying some profi appliances like a mixer, dehydrator and containers, wooden forms, and green chemicals
the recording of the Online-Workshop,
so that more people learn to produce biomaterials from their own household residues, and
to give birth to Biomaterials Vienna as an Start-Up, to keep the biowaste solutions Research & Developement true to the Cradle to Cradle values.
The all-or-nothing principle applies
For the project to be successful, it is required to reach a goal amount of €6,500 by November 21th. Otherwise, all amounts will be refunded, and the orders placed will be canceled.
This is not a typical pre-sale, only after receiving the funds I can buy the tools needed to create both the physical and digital rewards. Please note that due to the shipping time of these tools, plus the production time, I can’t assure the delivery by Christmas, but i try my best.
However, I will keep you regularly updated on the progress: from developments in the Atelier to the production status and, ultimately, when your reward will be ready for pick-up or shipping or online access.
Waste is just a bad habit…
Hi, my name is Sandra Galaviz and I am the founder of Biomaterials Vienna; every day, tons of fruits and vegetables are discarded due to their short shelf life. While rescue organizations help extend this by one or two weeks, much of this produce still ends up as „waste.“ However, waste is a human-made concept—or perhaps just a bad habit. The good news is that we have the power to change it.
a love letter from bacteria…
This organic matter can be repurposed as raw material through the action of bacteria, which transform the waste into cellulose, or what we easy call mother of vinegar, using minimal resources. This cellulose is then combined with other remnants to create paper, plastic, and leather-like materials— without trees, petroleum, or animals.
And that’s exactly what I am pursuing in my Atelier-Lab in Vienna inside Werksalon, inspired by my teacher Edith Medina; mexican Biologist and Artist. Because I am not the only one curious enough to take things into my own hands, people like me running such projects, we are called Citizen Scientists.
I just have curiosity and crafty hands…
